The Challenges

The Post Rock wind project is located in Lincoln & Ellsworth counties in Kansas.  The project utilizes 134 GE XLE 1.5 MW turbines and now produces enough electricity to power 70,000 homes annually.

  • Engineering, procurement, and construction of the civil and electrical infrastructure
  • Construction of 19.6 miles of access roads
  • 31 miles of new 230 kV transmission line
  • Crane paths and pads
  • Spread-footer turbine foundations
  • 24.6 miles of 34.5 kV underground collector system
  • 34.5/230 kV power substation
  • In-tower wiring
  • Construction of two meteorological towers
  • Mechanical turbine completion
  • Tower erection
  • Testing and inspections
  • Full site restoration
