IEA Appoints VP of Diversity and Inclusion
IEA is excited to announce that we have appointed Morayma Da Silva as vice president of diversity and inclusion. In this role, Da Silva will work with IEA and all of the subsidiary companies to achieve a more diverse and inclusive workforce, ensuring every member of the team is treated fairly and feels safe and comfortable at work.
In her former role as the director of diversity contract compliance and HR at William Charles Construction, Da Silva created the first EEO and Diversity Compliance department. Throughout her career, she has received multiple awards from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Toll Highway Authority for exceeding goals on state contracts and working with public agencies that facilitate construction project access to disadvantaged businesses in Illinois.
“We’re all hard workers, no matter the race or gender,” Da Silva said. “Unfortunately, some people do not have the right connections and my role is to ensure that everyone has access to the construction industry. It’s powerful when you have a table filled with diverse minds and that is what I want to bring to IEA. I am excited to represent Hispanic females and show that anyone is capable of success.
Alongside Da Silva, Sally Effler and Rebecca Francis have also joined the Diversity team. As the diversity compliance assistant, Effler will help with the requirements on state and federal contracts. Francis, who will oversee all diversity and inclusion initiatives, will serve as the diversity and compliance coordinator to ensure that all business units are increasing their diversity efforts. She will also coordinate outreach and work closely with HR to understand recruiting needs company-wide.
Together with her team, Da Silva is actively working to implement a number of new initiatives, including specialized recruitment tactics, training, company-wide events, and other programs designed to enhance diversity and inclusivity at IEA.
