IEA to Donate $120,000 in Scholarships in 2021
As IEA continues our efforts to empower women and minorities in the construction industry, we have committed to donating $120,000 in scholarships to six universities in 2021. With this initiative in mind, the universities selected were based on their enrollment to diverse and female populations, as well as their role in attracting women and diverse students to enroll in construction and engineering programs.
"As IEA continues to grow, it's important that we develop relationships with universities that are grooming the next generation of leaders in the construction industry and that we give special attention to underrepresented populations in the industry," said IEA VP of Diversity and Inclusion Morayma DaSilva.
The universities selected include Indiana State University, Nevada State University, Illinois State University, Colorado State University, University of Alabama Birmingham and Sacramento State University. In February, Indiana State University was the first institution to receive a donation from IEA. Each university will receive $20,000 in scholarships earmarked for women and diverse students pursuing a degree in a construction-related field. The scholarships will be distributed to five students in their sophomore, junior or senior year that are maintaining a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
