Advancing Within: Abe Pustina grows IT career
In 2012, Abe Pustina was a junior in college studying Information Technology at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He applied for an internship at RMT Incorporated (now IEA Constructors) based out of Madison, Wisconsin. Nine years and one acquisition later, he’s now a senior network engineer for IEA.
Soon after getting started at the company, Abe began working part-time through college. Following graduation, he was offered a full-time position in the IT department. Since then, he hasn’t looked back. “IEA is a company that cares about you and seeks out the best—not just for employees, but for our collective future,” Abe said.
As an IEA employee, Abe has worn many hats (and fixed many of our IT issues). He’s been an entry-level IT support specialist, a senior IT support specialist, a network engineer and now serves as our senior network engineer. In this role, Abe assists with the implementation of new security infrastructure and new applications that support IEA, among many other tasks.
“I’ve loved the relationships I’ve built along the way,” Abe said. “It’s been a really cool experience to support people in the field and the office.”
Based in Wisconsin, Abe has worked remotely for IEA for the past five years. While he misses office interactions, technology has bridged the communication gap for him. Further, Abe still notices the family feel and culture of IEA from his desk at home.
“I enjoy being a part of a cohesive team where everyone works so well together,” he said. “There are countless opportunities. Being part of such a family that cares about its employees and making a difference is wonderful.”
IEA is certainly a better company because of Abe Pustina. His hard work and friendly spirit have helped many individuals and improved the organization as a whole.
To anyone looking to advance within, Abe says: “If you work hard and apply yourself, you will be able to grow within your role and be met with opportunities to further yourself and your career.”
With almost a decade at IEA, Abe is a perfect example of how consistency and hard work lead to professional growth.
