IEA Constructors helps nearby farmer extinguish fire
It's currently harvesting season for farms surrounding IEA Constructors’ El Algodon Alto wind farm project in Mathis, Texas. As a result, the miles of cotton fields encompassing the project have more farm equipment traffic than usual.
It was a typical day on site, until a nearby farmer contacted the IEA Constructors’ team and informed them that one of his tractors was catching on fire; he asked for the company’s help.
Site leadership quickly put a plan in motion and assembled a group of volunteers to assist. The crew knew that the size of the fire, combined with high winds and dry conditions, made it critical to act immediately.
The crew arrived on site with two water trucks in record time and had the fire under control within the first 30 minutes of their arrival-long before the local fire department could get there.
Once the local fire department arrived on the scene, the IEA Constructors team already had the fire contained and almost extinguished. The fire department took control of the situation and ensured the cotton fields were not in any further danger of reigniting.
“We all know that the livelihood of local farming relies on having good harvest and much-needed equipment to do their job, IEA Constructors has always tried to help the local community and farmers when we see a need,” said project manager Kenny Reck.
At IEA, we prioritize every community we work in, and the IEA Constructors team at El Algodon Alto exhibited that ideal perfectly. Their reputation precedes them, we believe it speaks volumes that they were a primary contact for this local farmer.
