Diversity Within | Ebbert Toledo
When asked what the most important thing to him is, Ebbert Toledo will tell you that "family is everything."
As the Toledo family moved from California to Indiana, it took time to adjust and during that period, it wasn't always easy. With the language barrier to unwarranted racial slurs, Ebbert and his family have certainly faced adversity, but together, they know they can get through anything.
With Ebbert being an HR Generalist for IEA Constructors, he has had many opportunities to go out into the field and visit groups of employees who put in long hours building our projects. During those face-to-face interactions, it's important to him to not only build those connections, but also show them the same respect that he hopes others would show his family. "At the end of the day, without the people in the field, the office doesn't exist," said Ebbert. "They are out in the field, working long hours and away from family. It's important to show them that we appreciate them and everything that they do."
Ebbert's tenacity, compassion and grit are just one of the many reasons why we are so excited to feature his story and share his journey. "We hit the jackpot when we hired Ebbert," said Drue Proffer, VP of Human Resources, Corporate and Renewable Operations. "He is always willing to go above and beyond for our employees. The love he has for his family is evident and it reflects how he treats those around him."
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we hope you dive into Ebbert's story and grasp his pride and appreciation for his Hispanic heritage and culture. His story is one of resilience, strength and admiration and we're so thankful he shared it with us. As you know, at IEA, we have many employees who also share Hispanic heritage and we want to acknowledge them and the hard work that they output every single day to ensure our operations run smoothly.
